CREAMSICLE BABY/TODDLER 2 STRAND CAP


SIZE: 3-9 months, 13-15 inches

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, less than 2 ounces ( sample is knit with white and gold Mainstays)
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) needle
US size 11 (8.0 mm) needle
US size 11 (8.0 mm) double point needles
Tapestry needle
Marker

INSTRUCTIONS:
With size 10.5 needle, cast on 42 sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to denote beginning of round.

Rounds 1-6:  K1, P1.  Repeat around.  (42 sts)

Switch to size 11 needle and continue knitting in the round.

Rounds 7-8: Knit.  (42 sts)

Round 9: K2tog around.  (21 sts)

Round 10: *P1, insert left needle under next horizontal loop of previous row (between sts) and purl this stitch.  Repeat from * around.  Be sure you do that last lift and purl.  (42 sts)

Rounds 11-12: Knit.  (42 sts)

Round 13: K2tog around.  (21 sts)

Round 14: *P1, insert left needle under next horizontal loop of previous row (between sts) and purl this stitch.  Repeat from * around.  Be sure you do that last lift and purl.  (42 sts)

Round 15-16: Knit.  (42 sts)

Round 17: K2tog around.  (21 sts)

Round 18: *P1, insert left needle under next horizontal loop of previous row (between sts) and purl this stitch.  Repeat from * around.  Be sure you do that last lift and purl.  (42 sts)

Continue knitting in the round until cap is 5.5 inches inches from cast on edge.

Begin decreases:

Decrease round 1:  *K5, k2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (36 sts)

Decrease round 2:  K around.  (36 sts)

Decrease round 3: *K4, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (30 sts)

Decrease round 4: *K3, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (24 sts)

Decrease round 5: *K2, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (18 sts)

Decrease round 6: *K1, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (12 sts)

Decrease round 7: *K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (6 sts)

Finishing:

Cut yarn leaving 6 inch tails.  Use tapestry needle to run yarn tails through the stitches and pull to close. 

Weave in ends.
